The program of Optometry is dedicated to training future eye-care professionals with the skills to diagnose, manage, and treat vision problems. The program combines clinical training with modern research, preparing graduates to improve eye health and enhance the quality of life in their communities.
The Bachelor of Optometry is designed as a four-year program of study. During this period, students progress from foundational sciences such as anatomy and optics to advanced clinical training in ocular disease, refraction, and vision care. Each academic year builds upon the previous one, gradually moving students from theoretical classroom-based learning to practical, hands-on clinical experiences in hospitals and eye-care centers.
The program covers foundational sciences such as anatomy, physiology, optics, and pathology, followed by advanced courses in ocular diseases, refraction, and clinical optometry. Students gain hands-on experience in eye examination techniques, diagnostics, and patient management through supervised clinical practice.
Applicants must have completed secondary school with strong performance in science subjects (Biology, Physics, and Chemistry). An entrance examination and interview may be required. Priority is given to students with a solid academic record and interest in healthcare services.
