I am Dr Abdirahman Jama Hadi, serving as the President of Adal Medical University. With over 50 years of experience in medical education, healthcare administration, and clinical practice, I have dedicated my career to advancing healthcare standards in Somalia.
My vision is to develop future generations of skilled healthcare professionals, foster innovative research, and ensure the university remains a leading institution for medical education and health sciences.
Began his professional career at Digfeer Hospital, one of the largest referral hospitals in Somalia.
- Later promoted to Director of the Medical Ward, overseeing patient care and clinical operations.
- Returned to the northern regions after the outbreak of the Somali civil war.
- Served in Burco City before moving back to his hometown Borama.
- Joined Borama Regional Hospital as a dedicated physician.
- During the civil war, when militia looted hospital equipment, he was one of the funders who brought back some of the equipment, ensuring continuity of care.
- Established Adal International Hospital in Borama to provide advanced medical care and services.
- Focused on creating a patient-centered environment with a team of skilled healthcare professionals.
- Implemented modern medical technologies and practices to improve healthcare delivery in the region.
- Continues to serve as President of both the Hospital and the University.
- Maintains part-time OPD practice to meet community demand.
- Appointed as the Regional Coordinator for Awdal, leading all health programs and services.
- Served for 14 years, making him the longest-serving health coordinator in Awdal’s history.
- Oversaw hospital development, vaccination campaigns, maternal health programs, and community outreach.
- Resigned in 2014 to allow new leadership and innovation in the health sector.
Founded Adal Medical University in 2015 with a focus exclusively on medical and health sciences.
- Officially opened in 2017, with the mission of preparing the next generation of Somali healthcare professionals.
- Expanded the university to include multiple medical disciplines and modern training facilities.
